What is Hydrogen Alpha Light?

What's so interesting about observing the Sun with a Hydrogen-Alpha (Ha) filter? Well, these specialized  devices offer one of the most interesting views in all of Astronomy. Think about what objects change when looking through a telescope... a comet, perhaps the polar caps of Mars over time... the Sun changes by the minute! Eruptive prominences arch out over the disk, active regions brighten and sunspots grow and widen. The Sun is a dynamic and fascinating object to watch! This section of Sungazer.net will show you where Ha comes from and what equipment to use to see it.

Why Ha? | The View | What you see | The Chromos | Ha Emission | Bandwidth | Main Designs | Ha Components | Rear Filters | The Etalon | Front Filters | Coronado filters | DayStar Filters | Solar Spectrum Filters
