Comparison of CCD and Digital Cameras for Ha Imagery

Place your mouse over the image below to see the difference between images taken with a monochromatic CCD camera and a consumer digital camera. Moving the mouse off and back again changes the image.

 

The CCD captures more of the disk detail than the digital camera, even though it has less pixels!
The higher resolution of the CCD produces a cleaner image.
